Tech Talk: Meet Ideogram 3.0 - stunning realism, creative designs, and consistent styles, all in one powerful model.

One of the first applications of GenAI was image creation but at the beginning it was pretty clunky and difficult to direct the image creation to what you actually wanted. However, development of better models have significantly accelerated progress and Ideogram 3.0 is an example of how far this application of GenAI has come.

Ideogram 3.0 pushes the boundaries of generative media through significant advancements in image-prompt alignment, photorealism, and text rendering quality. In human evaluations, Ideogram 3.0 consistently outperforms other text-to-image models, scoring highest in ELO rating over a set of diverse prompts that probe a wide variety of capabilities, subjects, styles, use cases, and composition difficulty.

Tip 5: Planning for Customizations

Of course if your system is heavily customized this will inevitably mean more complexity in terms of migration especially if you want to effectively move the customisations onto the new system. This adds work both in the customisations themselves and can also add more complexity in the data transformations. Not only that but some customizations can significantly affect performance and so if avoided can mean a better experience for users. In some cases this complexity can be reduced by moving to more out of the box functionality where appropriate.

There are two types of issues to be addressed here: customizations applied to out-of-the-box (OOTB) applications and custom applications. Customizations applied to OOTB applications can include custom fields, views, business rules, choice-list values, data-policies, UI actions, ACLs and more. In most cases these customizations will have been added incrementally over several years and the original purpose may no longer be clear. Furthermore, the people involved in requesting the changes and those responsible for implementing them may have moved on. The same applies to custom applications.

In general, if you are moving to a greenfield instance, the best practice approach is not to take any of the customizations across. If end-users still need custom features/functionality they can request this as an enhancement to the new instance which can then be reviewed in isolation. In this case it is best to check first whether the requirement can be met with OOTB functionality which may not have been available in previous releases of the vendor applications. For custom applications, consider if new OOTB applications or plug-ins are available that provide similar functionality. It should be much easier to maintain these going forward than the original custom application.

TIP 5: Analyze how much customization has been applied to the current system and investigate whether it is possible to move from bespoke applications to out of the box applications on the new system.

Precision Bridge Newsletter:
Kickstarting new opportunities...

As February rolls in, we're looking ahead to brighter days and the start of spring! With new opportunities on the horizon, we are is excited for what’s to come.

Customer Success Story: CGI

Success Story: CGI migrates over 150 managed services customers to a new Service Management platform leveraging Precision Bridge Data Migration Automation.

This project involved migrating an extensive Remedy ITSM system used by multiple teams for supporting over 150 outsourced customers. The Remedy platform had been deeply embedded in business processes for many years, with its retirement marking a significant shift to ServiceNow.

“The Precision Bridge tool saved us an immense amount of time, particularly in managing our complex catalogs and CMDB migration. Every time we encountered an issue, the team resolved it the same day, keeping us on track. The solution was invaluable and saved us a huge amount of manual effort. We’re very pleased with the outcome and the support we received throughout the project.” - Tony Kavanagh, Director of Business Consulting - CGI

Tech Talk: Claude Plays Pokemon

Some things come to us nearly instantly: “what day is it today?” Others take much more mental stamina, like solving a cryptic crossword or debugging a complex piece of code. We can choose to apply more or less cognitive effort depending on the task at hand.

Now, Claude has that same flexibility. With the new Claude 3.7 Sonnet, users can toggle “extended thinking mode” on or off, directing the model to think more deeply about trickier questions1. And developers can even set a “thinking budget” to control precisely how long Claude spends on a problem.

Playing Pokémon—specifically, the Game Boy classic Pokémon Red—is just such a task. We equipped Claude with basic memory, screen pixel input, and function calls to press buttons and navigate around the screen, allowing it to play Pokémon continuously beyond its usual context limits, sustaining gameplay through tens of thousands of interactions.

Source and Target System Expertise

Another key consideration is moving to new data structures and processes in the new system. This can be true even when moving to a new instance with the same ITSM vendor. Many times the existing system has been customized or may be on a previous release. There can also be a desire to move from bespoke applications to out of the box applications for processes such as Incident Management or Change Management. Of course when moving to a new vendor there will most likely be significant changes to be reviewed. One problem is finding expertise that spans different releases, versions or vendor solutions.

TIP 4: If there are potential changes in data structures and processes in the new instance then be sure to involve experts in both the “from” and “to” instances early in the planning process. If you do not have these in house then engage an external ITSM services provider, integrator or consultant with the relevant skills and experience.

Customer Success Story: A Leading Systems Integrator

Success Story: Leading Systems Integrator completes ServiceNow migration for National Telecoms Operator using Precision Bridge

This important project required the migration of over 250 million records from multiple key business areas into a single ServiceNow instance. The data migrated including Foundation Data, Incidents, Problems, Changes, Service Requests, CIs, Knowledge, Reports, PA Dashboards and more.

This large-scale migration was made more challenging by not only migrating the main records but also all the related records such as tasks, journal entries, embedded links, embedded images and file attachments.

Tech Talk: Are Self Driving cars finally coming?

Britain stands at the threshold of an automotive revolution and this new law is a milestone moment for our self-driving industry, which has the potential to change the way we travel forever. ” declared Transport Secretary, Mark Harper. "While this doesn’t take away people’s ability to choose to drive themselves, our landmark legislation means self-driving vehicles can be rolled out on British roads as soon as 2026, in a real boost to both safety and our economy"

Self-driving vehicles could be on British roads by 2026, after the government’s world-leading Automated Vehicles Act became law earlier last year in the United Kingdom.

The law will require self-driving vehicles to achieve a level of safety at least as high as careful and competent human drivers, as well as meeting rigorous safety checks before being allowed onto roads. Therefore, in the future deaths and injuries from drink driving, speeding, tiredness and inattention could be drastically reduced.

Tech Talk: Are Robots finally coming?

This is not science fiction,” declared Jensen Huang, boss of chip giant Nvidia, in June, referring to the use of AI to instruct robots to carry out real world tasks. “The next wave of AI is physical AI. AI that understands the laws of physics, AI that can work among us.

In many ways, this robotics revolution seems long overdue. For decades, people have envisioned living alongside humanoid domestic droids capable of doing their mundane chores.

But after years of slow progress, researchers now appear to be on the cusp of the dramatic advances required to create a new generation of automatons. AI has powered a number of recent research breakthroughs that have brought complex tasks that had previously separated humans from robots within reach.

We round off this Newsletter with one of our Hints from our ITSM Migration Hints & Tips on avoiding the pitfalls Guide - free when you register for a Data Migration Webinar.

Regulation and Compliance Planning

There is significant regulation around the retention of data and, in some cases, being able to rapidly provide copies of stored data. For companies that handle sensitive data governed by GDPR, HIPAA, PCI, or other standards, regulatory compliance is a top priority. In many cases, especially in the government, financial and health care sectors, there are regulations that require the retention of at least 7 years worth of data.

TIP 3: Make sure you understand how to preserve key compliance data points, custom fields, relationships and record attachments during the planning process.
